How It Works: Becoming a Substitute Teacher or Other School Staff Member
- Apply Online
- Start by completing our online application form (see CTA below).
- You’ll need to provide your transcripts (for substitute teachers and interim administrators), government ID, and any teaching certifications you hold.
- Complete Background Check
- All applicants are required to pass a background screening to ensure a safe learning environment for students.
- Attend Orientation (Optional)
- We provide an optional orientation session to introduce you to the schools and the tools you’ll need for success in the classroom.
- Choose Your Assignments
- Set your availability and preferences (grade levels, subjects, specific schools).
- Receive assignment notifications through our online portal or by phone and accept those that fit your schedule.
- Start Working and Get Paid
- Enjoy the freedom of working in a school when it works for you, and receive competitive pay based on the assignment.
- We handle all the administrative work—so you can focus on the classroom.
What You Need to Apply
- Substitute teachers must have at least 60 college credit hours or a valid teaching certificate.
- All interim administrators must have a valid Michigan Administrator Certification.
All substitute staff members will need:
- A passion for education and a commitment to making a difference.
- The ability to adapt quickly and manage a classroom effectively.
- Willingness to undergo a background check.
